SESAME and placements in France

SESAME is a non-profit making association founded by French agricultural organizations. We offer placements in France for foreign trainees wishing to discover the diversity of the French agriculture.

Our placement programs are designed for agricultural students from foreign countries, wishing to go abroad to widen their experience in animal productions, crops, horticulture, viticulture and other sectors linked to agriculture , and to improve their skills in this area. These trainees are interested in acquiring a better understanding of the French language and culture.

applicants Incoming trainees must have a basic knowledge of the French language.
Applicants without this ability must take French lessons or an intensive course. Eventhough travelling from one country to another is easy, language barriers remain. This is all the more true as French host farmers do not generally speak foreign languages, except in Eastern France where German is commonly spoken and Spanish in some areas of Southwestern France. This leads us to require from incoming trainees a minimum ability and a real motivation to speak French in addition to a practical experience on a farm.

SESAME is responsible for the coordination of the exchange programs, and in case of problems or difficulties with the host farmer, each trainee is asked to contact the coordinator at SESAME. The trainee must not leave the farm without SESAME being informed . If a change of host farmer is necessary, SESAME will do its best to find another placement.
